about us

Established in 1966, the Spanish American Committee for a Better Community is a response by the Hispanic/Latino community of Cleveland to take ownership of the key issues impacting our community and to provide leadership in addressing those issues.

The Spanish American Committee is the oldest and largest Hispanic human services organization in Ohio. We are a United Way partnering agency, a national affiliate member of the National Council of La Raza, and a HUD-certified housing counseling site.

With an annual operating budget of $2.1 million, the Spanish American Committee serves more than 5,500 clients a year. As the primary provider of Hispanic focused human services in the region, the Spanish American Committee impacts economic and social development in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, and the state.

The Spanish American Committee offers services and education in five core program areas:

  • Family Support Program
  • Early Childhood Enrichment Center
  • Employment and Training Program
  • Educational Training Services
  • Pre to Post Homeownership Program.
